How your registration helps change lives
When you register for the Step Up for Women & Recovery 5K Run/Walk, it may feel like a simple commitment—signing up for a run, a walk, or a meaningful community event.
But behind that registration is something much bigger.
Each registration directly supports the Women’s Scholarship Fund, helping make recovery possible for women who are ready to begin but don’t have the financial means to access care.
The barriers many women face
For women seeking addiction treatment, the path to recovery is often complicated by more than just the decision to get help.
Many are navigating a combination of challenges—limited or no insurance coverage, loss of income, childcare responsibilities, and the stigma that can come with asking for support. Even after making the courageous decision to seek treatment, these barriers can prevent that next step from ever happening.
Cost, in particular, is one of the most common reasons women are unable to access care.
Turning participation into access
The Step Up for Women & Recovery event was created to address that gap.
Funds raised through registrations and community support go directly toward providing treatment scholarships for women in need. These scholarships cover the cost of care at Harmony Recovery, giving women access to clinical services, structure, and a supportive recovery community.
It’s a direct connection: participation in the event helps fund opportunities for someone else to begin their recovery journey.
The impact so far
Since the beginning of the Step Up Walk, this community has already made a meaningful difference:
13 women have received fully funded treatment scholarships
$38,469 has been invested in women’s recovery since day one
These numbers represent more than funding—they represent access to care, renewed stability, and the opportunity for a different future.
A community effort
One of the most important things to know about this event is that participation looks different for everyone.
You don’t have to be a runner. You don’t have to raise large amounts of money.
Simply registering, showing up, and being part of the event contributes to the larger goal—ensuring that when a woman is ready for recovery, cost is not what stands in her way.
